Am I missing something? Do you folks take vitamins every day? I'm exhausted. Seriously. I don't think I can continue at this pace. I must be doing something wrong. Maybe my walking around campus and dancing around the house is not enough. Maybe I need to ramp up the exercise. I heard that helps. I already get quite a few hours of sleep, but maybe my bed isn't comfortable enough. I know I need to eat more regularly and probably better. But I really am exhausted. I think 6 graduate classes, plus clinical, plus a lab course is overload. plus my one night per week at the library turned into three this week.
Somethin's gotta give.
Breathe Easy, You've Found Me ((HUGS))
People will wonder why this blog is needed, why minority midwifery student? It's very simple actually; I was looking for this blog...but I couldn't find it...so I created it. We all have unique experiences, and every experience, every story, can help someone else. I am a black girl from the hood at an ivy league professional school. That, alone, is reason enough to write. Somebody was looking for this blog. Someone wanted proof that what I'm doing can be done - even when you come from where we come from.
To that person especially, WELCOME.

Oh wow! You're totally right! Isn't there something about applying pressure to the perineum to prevent a big tear? I wouldn't know, of course - my OB and I were not on the same perineal page. But that's a lot of pressure for one small area of time that is a semester!
thinking stretchy thoughts......
I hear you -- although I'm having a semi-slack week. Will be attending a birth tomorrow, as a volunteer doula (yay.) We have a HUGE clinical test on Monday and our first day in the hospital (for real) is on Friday. I had a minor mishap over my mini-vacation. You should check it out and give me your advice. I hope your week gets better.
And, yes, I *do* take those horse pill vitamins. Blah. I don't feel like they make any difference. Now a beer...that makes all the difference in the world after a hard day. Aren't we supposed to have one drink (wine or beer) per day?
Girl, we must be on the same wavelength. I basically just posted the same thing before I read your post. It must be that time of year. Just breathe;)
My toe! Lol ;)
They called me (student health) and told me to come in for an appointment. I was at a birth (for the ADC) all night and early this morning. Then I had clinical. So I was on my feet for awhile. Now my toe really hurts. I probably should have it looked at..?
LOL Oh! YES you should. It doesn't look infected but it wouldn't hurt just to check. You also might have broken it when you stubbed it (happened to my mom) but there's nothing really to do about it if that's the case...
